Forty-two-point game, game winning three-point shot, All-Tournament team, 1,000th career point, it has been an early season filled with big accomplishments for Luke Smith. The 2025-point guard of Addison Trail High School (IL) and All In has only continued to shine during his junior season while just a couple weeks in.
Following a sophomore season in which he averaged nearly 20 points per game and first team all-conference honors, Smith has continued to take great strides in this season to be one of the top players in the entire area. Right now, Smith is averaging a staggering 33.4 points to have Addison Trail sitting at a 4-1 record. He has added in 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game.
While Smith may be known mainly for his great scoring ability, there is much more to it. “Playmaker on both sides of the ball,” is how Smith described his own game. “I create my own shot, as well as shots for my teammates. On the defensive end I take pride in my on ball and off ball defense contributing to winning basketball.”
While many players can only hope to reach the one thousand career point mark by the end of their high school career, Smith has done it just a few games into his junior season. “Definitely a good feeling knowing my work continues to play off,” he said about the mark.
With his elite play at both Addison Trail High School and with All In, the recruitment has continued to pick up for Smith. He is currently receiving interest from colleges at levels. His main goal for the season is to continue to grow as a player and a team which “hopefully doing so will lead to success down the road.”
