While players from Illinois as well as the nation continue to fly off the board there are still plenty of quality players out there. Here are a few skilled seniors having tremendous seasons that have plenty to offer teams at the next level.

Mason Funk – 2023 – SG – Normal University HS – IL Predators Elite

Whether it be with his high school team or on the grassroots scene with Illinois Predators Elite, Funk has continued to impress over the past year. He is having another strong high school season with a well-rounded stat line of 17.3 points, 7 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 2.5 blocks, and 2.3 assists per game. Funk has a lot of tools for the next level with his shot making ability, positional size at 6’5”, and well-rounded game.  

Melvin Holder-Maldonado – 2023 – PG – Von Steuben HS

While under the radar, Holder-Maldonado has put together a very good high school career including currently averaging a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. This includes a 26 points in his most recent game. With his tight handle, he excels playing on the attack getting all the way to the basket as well as creating for teammates but also has a good ability to knock down shots from the outside. 

Keeland Jordan – 2023 – F – Leo Catholic HS – The Work Foundation 

A high upside forward that is a standout on both ends of the floor. With his defensive play, scoring, and rebounding, Jordan is a highly impactful forward. At 6’6” with his length, and great motor, Jordan can do a bit of everything on the floor. He recently received an offer from Morton College. 

Ryan Sammons – 2023 – SG – Fremd HS – Greater Purpose Athletics 

Sammons has continued to show he is one of the better shooters in the 2023 class in the Chicagoland area. More than just a shooter however, Sammons is a high IQ guard with a well-rounded skill set. Throughout his high school career, he has only continued to improve and is averaging 12 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game. 

Grady Thompson – 2023 – SG – Princeton HS – MidPro Academy

Not only is the 6’5” wing guard putting up some big numbers but is doing so to lead Princeton to an undefeated record currently at 22-0 and atop the states 2A rankings. Right now, his stats sit at 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. He has continued to show he is one of the more skilled scorers in the area with his shot making ability in addition to attacking the rim.
