One of the fastest rising prospects in the region over the past several months, Jason Jakstys took a visit down to Illinois this past weekend. Once an unknown recruit not too long ago, the junior now has interest from a number of high major and mid major programs. The 6’9” 2024 post of Yorkville High School (IL) visited on Saturday for Illinois’ game in which they defeated Wisconsin.

“It was a lot of fun,” Jakstys said about his visit to the in-state Big Ten school. “I enjoyed watching the game and talking to the coaches.” As well to catching their game, he also toured their training facilities and the State Farm Center.

When asked what he likes about Illinois, he mentioned the coaches and the training facilities. While he has no other visits planned right now, he is “open to visit any school that would invite me.” Jakstys has also taken a visit to Illinois State back in August.

Jakstys was a breakout performer last spring and summer drawing a great deal of college interest from division one programs for himself. Another school recruiting him is Belmont who was in to see him last week. Other schools showing interest include Lehigh, Liberty, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Yale, among many others. The mobile and skilled big man should draw plenty of attention this spring when playing with Breakaway Basketball.
