After a strong summer playing first with his high school team, Benet Academy (IL) and then Team FVV in July, the recruitment stock of Niko Abusara started to soar. While it was not until June when he received his first division one offer, on Friday he received his fourth offer and second from an Ivy League school.

This offer for the 6’5” senior wing guard was from Dartmouth. Brown, Marshall, and Radford have also offered Abusara so far. As well, some of the schools to have shown interest in him recently include Lehigh, Southern Illinois, UIC, and West Virginia.

His most recent visit was back in September to West Virginia University. “The visit to WVU was amazing,” he said about his trip to Morgantown. “The facilities and the stadium were unreal. I got to play with the guys at WVU and I absolutely loved it…I played really well, and I showed my own out there.”

Abusara is focused on things on and off the court in selecting his future college. “Somewhere I can play basketball at a high level and have an amazing education to help me in the next forty years of my life rather than four.”

After a breakout summer, don’t be surprised to see Abusara have a strong senior season at Benet Academy. With his combination of length, athleticism, and ability on both ends of the floor as well to his work in the classroom, he should be a target for many high academic division one programs nationwide.
