The newest commitment from Illinois’ 2023 class is Ethan Kizer. The 6’7” wing forward of Metamora High School and MidPro Academy announced his verbal commitment to University of South Alabama on Friday.

Before making his commitment, Kizer had also previously received several division one offers from Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Morehead State, Southeast Missouri State, Toledo, and UIC. The commitment comes after Kizer just took his official visit to South Alabama last weekend. On the visit, he received his scholarship offer from head coach Richie Riley and staff.

South Alabama is landing one of the most high-flying players in the 2023 class for the entire region. More than just an athlete however, he is also a high percentage shooter from the outside. Last season as a junior, he was named first team all-state by the IBCA while helping Metamora High School reach the state championship game at the 3A level. Next year he will join South Alabama who is a member of the Sun Belt Conference and is coming off a highly successful 21-win season.

Kizer marks the fourth member of the 2023 MidPro Academy team to make their college commitment to a division one team. He joins Brock Harding and Owen Freeman who are headed to Iowa as well as Ty Pence who committed to Illinois State.
