With many of the regions shoe teams, as well to NY2LA Association teams, and other top independent teams on hand, there was plenty of great games Saturday at the Swish N’ Dish. Here are some of the standouts from the great day of hoops.
Darrin Ames – 2023 – PG – Mac Irvin Fire
Ames had another impressive performance today with 21 points as well as racking up the assists. The junior is a gifted playmaker with the ball in his hands that continues to put up big numbers for points and assists. Ames was scoring it efficiently from all three levels in addition to seeing the floor incredibly well. He is such a good decision maker with the ball that can break down defenses with ease.
Tayshawn Bridges – 2024 – PG – Power 5
The highly explosive guard put on a show tonight to lead Power 5 to an impressive blowout victory and advance them in the platinum bracket. Bridges is a gifted scorer that just could not be stopped from getting to the basket but can also create for himself from the outside. His game is just on another level and he is one of the top sophomores in the region.
Ryan Cohen – 2023 – G – Illinois Wolves
While Cohen has a tremendous offensive skill set, he continues to fly under the radar. In his second game of the day, Cohen scored a very efficient 16 points. The junior is a high IQ guard that not only is a knockdown shooter with a great stroke while spotting up from three but also scored it creating for himself in the mid-range today. He is just one of a few skilled scorers from this 17U Illinois Wolves team along with Asa Thomas, Cam Christie, Sonny Williams, and others. Look for Cohen to be a very popular name in the coming weeks while playing with the Wolves.
Bobby Durkin – 2022 – SG – Breakaway
The unsigned senior is one of a few players from the 17U Breakaway team that shined today. Durkin has picked up right where he left off after winning a state title with Glenbard West. Not only is he a big two guard at 6’6” but has a high skill level. A talented scorer who put up 26 points in a game today, Durkin can really shoot the ball from the outside. One of the top seniors left in the Midwest.
Andrew Graf – 2024 – PG – MTXE Premier
A good all-around point guard that has greatly improved his scoring ability. Graft is a smart point that has a good ability to distribute the ball but also dropped 19 points. Three of these points came in the biggest of moments hitting a game winning jumper just before the buzzer to give MXTE 16U another victory.
Pete Moe – 2023 – F – Team Rose
For the second day in a row, Moe was a highly impactful player. The 6’8” forward has good strength and plays with plenty of energy to be all over the court making plays for his team. Not only was he a force scoring it around the paint, but the junior also hit some outside jumpers and scored it going to the bucket. He was also one of the better rebounders with his aggressive style of play. Moe has a lot of tools for the next level.
