The 2022 class in Illinois is one of the better ones in recent years for the state. Here are five sophomores that have already proven themselves and are ready to take the next step in their young careers.

Xavier Amos – 2022 – F – Whitney Young High School (IL)
Lengthy 6’7” forward who contributes in so many ways on both ends of the court and is a very tough matchup with all his abilities. Scores it in bunches with his back to the basket plus off the dribble. Tough defender inside and out with his length and mobility.

Kam Craft – 2022 – SG – Buffalo Grove High School (IL)
While only a sophomore Craft already has a great deal of skill and the size the go with it at 6’6”. Sniper from deep who isn’t afraid to let it fly, able to knock down jumpers from well beyond the arc. High scoring wing guard who can also beat defenders off the dribble and is a crafty finisher around the basket. Only a matter of time before he is racking up the scholarship offers.

Nigel Hylton – 2022 – F – Lake Forest Academy (IL)
One of the top sophomores in Illinois and all the Midwest who has a great combination of talent and size at 6’8”. Athletic forward who scores the ball nicely from all three levels. Very tough matchup with his size and skill set. Has had a nice summer and fall that should lead to a big high school season.

Donovan Jones – 2022 – PG – Solorio Academy (IL)
Strong scoring guard who is one of the top sophomores in the city of Chicago. One of those guys that needs to be guarded once he crosses half court. Can rise up at any point and quickly knock down contested jumpers at a high percentage. Overpowers defenders to take it strong into the defense to score and distribute.

Trey Pettigrew – 2022 – PG – Fenwick High School (IL)
Talented sophomore that is so good with the ball in his hands. Scores and distributes the ball both equally as well. Does a great job penetrating the defense and distributing the ball, very good vision on the drive. Knocks down jumpers from the mid-range and three in bunches. Relentless defender with quick feet that can put good pressure on the ball. Was offered by Penn State back in October.
