After being one of the more under the radar seniors in all of Illinois this season, Orlando Thomas picked up his first scholarship offer this week. The 6’3” guard of Rolling Meadows High School and Fundamental U wad offered by Northwood University and head coach Lonnie Griffin.

“This is my first scholarship offer and it feels great to know that all my hard is starting to pay off, but this is just a start, more work to be done,” Thomas said about the Northwood offer. The offer comes in for Thomas as he has been recruited by Northwood for the past month.

While he has yet to take a visit to the Northwood campus in Michigan, there are some different aspects of the basketball program he likes already. “I like Coach Griffin, he took the time out to get to know me as a person and talk to my family.”

The senior is a skilled two-way guard. He can play with or without the ball in addition to being able to create his own shot in the mid-range and three. With his agility and energy, he is a very tough perimeter defender that can get all over opposing ball handlers.

All of Thomas’ focus right now is on his current high school season and not any type of college decision. Winning another conference championship and making a run in the state tournament are the seniors’ priorities currently. The offer comes in as Thomas is having a tremendous senior season. He is averaging 21 points a game to help Rolling Meadows out to a 24-4 season as they gear up for the upcoming state tournament.
