The 2022 class of prospects is coming down the home stretch of their senior years while the 2023 class is continuing to take shape regionally and nationally and stands to be front and center the next 12-15 months.  One such prospect who’s primed to be a top target is talented wing Ty Pence of St. Joseph-Ogden (IL).

An ultra-skilled plus length wing with a strong 6-6 180 plus frame, Pence emerged last spring on the NY2LA Basketball Association circuit while wearing the Mid-Pro Academy (IL) program drip.  An elite talent, Pence has size, bounce, feel, instincts, and athleticism and his ability to finish at all levels while impacting the game on both ends is impressive.  His range extends well beyond the arc and he can put the ball on the floor, post up as needed, and bounce in transition with flair and feel.  Whereas D.J. Carton, Leon Bond, Anthony Black, Wendell Green Jr., etc. shined bright in the same circuit the past half-decade, Pence has a chance to follow that same path given his recent trend and the exceptional junior campaign he’s putting together during the high school season.

A 4.0 GPA caliber student, Pence is not only a potential high major impact player on the hardwood, he matches that with elite character and grades to make for one of the highly intriguing prospects in the 2023 class regionally and nationally.  One of those talented prospects whose had to work for everything he already has and who made his mark developing in the various NY2LA Sports proving grounds going back to the GNBA middle school years, Pence is the real deal.  He already holds offers from Akron, Bradley, Butler, DePaul, Illinois, Iowa State, Illinois State, UIC, Loyola-Chicago (IL), Wake Forest, and Western Illinois.  Just scratching the surface of his potential, Pence is a must watch talent for every mid and high major Division 1 program in the country in need of an impact wing in the 2023 class.

He plays for the Mid-Pro Academy program based out of Illinois.
