Even after an impressive summer, one junior that is still under the radar in Illinois is Nick Martinelli. While he has a fair amount of interest from division one programs across the nation, he has yet to receive a scholarship offer. Martinelli is a 6’7” wing forward at Glenbrook South High School.

Air Force, Belmont, Bucknell, California San Diego, Columbia, FAU, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Miami (OH), Princeton, Southern Illinois, and Yale have all reached out to Martinelli. The junior would like to visit a few of these once allowed to do so including Bucknell, FAU, Lehigh, Miami (OH) and Yale.

“I’m looking for a great team that has a good support group and kids that I love spending each and every day with. I really want to win game…as long as the team is winning, I am having fun,” Martinelli mentioned on what wants in his future collegiate team.

Martinelli is one of the more prolific scorers in all of Illinois for the 2022 class. He is a skilled scorer that is at his best attacking the basket. When going downhill to the paint, he is incredibly tough to stop and finishes very well around the basket. As well, he is a high IQ player that has a great motor.

Without a high school season right now, Martinelli has had the luxury of using a friend’s gym to continue to work on his game. “Shoot on the gun in the morning, then work on the rest of my game in the afternoon. And getting in lifts as well,” he mentioned on what he is currently doing to improve his skills.
