After a highly successful first two years of high school, Kam Craft is finally starting to see his recruitment interest heat up over the last several months. Even after averaging 24 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a sophomore at Buffalo Grove High School (IL), Craft had still yet to see a single scholarship offer.
That all changed in June when Drake became the first school to offer Craft a scholarship. Since then the offers have continued to come in as DePaul, Maryland, Nebraska, UIC, and Xavier have all added offers for the class of 2022 guard. There are also several other prominent programs interested in him including Purdue, Wake Forest, and Virginia.
When talking about the schools that are recruiting him, Craft said “I am grateful to have talked to many coaches and it’s been great to get to know more about these college programs.” He added in “I’m keeping my options open to everyone and continue to have zoom calls with different coaches,” when asked if any of the schools stand out to him right now.
“I’m looking for a college that gives me the opportunity to succeed on and off the court. I want to find a place that I can call home, starting great relationships with my coaches and teammates,” mentioned on what is going into his college decision.
With the Illinois high school season on hold, Craft has still found other ways to be able to work on his game. “I have been getting in the gym with my trainer three times a week and then playing in open runs on weekends.”
