While COVID-19 may have slowed the basketball scene in Illinois substantially this winter, it’s not going to do too much to slow down the rise of some of their top prospects and 2022 Power Forward A.J. Casey of Whitney Young (IL) is one of those blue chip talents who continues to trend upward with each passing month.

Equipped with a plus length 6-8 frame, Casey moved over to Chicago power Whitney Young this fall and the talented forward was primed for a huge season before the basketball season came to a grinding hold as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  While that has slowed many prospects, Casey was already a trending name and the talented forward has continued to see his status grow now reportedly holding offers from Gonzaga, Maryland, Illinois, DePaul, Kansas, Indiana, Louisville, Purdue, Iowa State, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Tulane.

At 6-8 he boast excellent size and pairs that with an ability to handle the ball, put the ball on the floor and score from all levels, and a perimeter stroke that can knock down the mid-range jumper and three point jumper as well.  His scoring versatility is only matched by his defensive potential as he can guard multiple positions and he has the ability to alter and block shots from all angles both on the ball and from the help side.  His ability to create positive chaos defensively combines with an elite potential offensive skill package to form one of the blue chip talents in the 2022 class nationally.  Once the basketball landscape gets back to normal look for Casey to continue to soar up the boards nationally as he’s primed to be one of the most targeted prospects in 2022 class.

He plays with the Meanstreets program during the grassroots travel season.
