As he completes a highly successful career, Jackson Connor was able to add himself another scholarship offer. This one coming from Eastern Illinois University and head coach Jay Spoonhour. Connor is a 6’6” senior forward at Marion High School and played with the Illinois Bears.
Eastern Illinois has been talking to Connor since last summer. Their coaching staff has come to a few of his games recently and finally decided to pull the trigger and offer him. “I really like the coaching staff and coach Spoonhour is a quality and authentic guy,” Connor mentioned on what he liked about their program.
While Connor’s high school career is coming to a close, he states that he is still one hundred percent open and does not have any leaders in his recruitment. Eastern Illinois marks the second division one offer for Connor. The first being from Austin Peay who offered him last summer. As well he holds offers from Lewis and McKendree from the division two level.
Some of the other schools after him include Evansville, Idaho, Indiana State, John A Logan, Lipscomb, New Mexico State, Olney Community College, Southern Illinois, and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville
Connor is having a tremendous senior season averaging around 25 points per game for himself. Marion have already won themselves a regional title last week when they defeated Herrin High School with Connor leading the way putting up 29 points. Up next they will face a big challenge when they play East St. Louis High School, the defending Illinois 3A state champions in the sectional semifinals on Tuesday.
Connor is in no rush to make his commitment as he is looking to find the right fit in his future college. He would like to make his college pick before he graduates high school.
