Whenever a freshman has multiple NCAA Division I offers, that must mean a kid can play!  Malik Olafioye has been putting up numbers for the Ecorse Raiders this season and people are starting to take notice of the Freshman Phenom.

Malik is averaging 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game this season and is one of the main reasons why Ecorse is competitive every game.  Even as a freshman, he has shown he can get to the basket, knock down jumpers and get his teammates open.  Being skilled with ball gives Olafioye an edge with being young and slim framed.

The Head Coach at Ecorse HS, Gerrod Abram, spoke to us about his phenomenal freshman.  “He’s a very hard working kid on an off the court. He currently has a 3.7 GPA and three to four times a week he’s in the gym at 6am, before school starts, putting work in before class,” says Abrams. When talking about his work ethic Coach Abram noted, “What sets him apart is his determination to be good on all levels.  Not just offensively but defensively as well.”

Currently, Olafioye has multiple NCAA Division I offers including:  LIU-Brooklyn, Mississippi Valley State, UAB and Detroit Mercy.  He is also receiving interest from Florida State, USC, Boston College and many more.

Checkout Malik and the Ecorse Raiders in action this week at 7:00pm on February 14th against University Prep Science & Math at home.
