Growing up watching ESPN almost every kids wish is to be on Sportscenter Top Plays and LaTa’Vius Vaughter did just that.  During a contest against Kalamazoo Lox Norrix at the GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic, LaTa’Vius had a put back dunk so nasty it made #3 on Top Plays the next morning.

The 6’6 Forward from Clio High School, outside of Flint, is having an outstanding season.  Averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds per game with games of 32 and 30 against Holly and Mt. Pleasant respectively.  This athletic wing can make plays on perimeter with his shot and ball skills while also being a force inside with this athletic ability. Clio and Vaughter are off to a terrific 8-0 start of the season and the play of Vaughter has been huge.

College coaches are beginning to take notice lately but Vaughter only had one offer entering the season from Northwood University.  He has recently gotten offers from Navarro College (TX) and Schoolcraft College within the last week.  Speaking with Vaughter he had one main goal going into his senior season, “My main goal is to get better and prepared for the next level.”

“He has the grades (3.3 GPA and 1080 SAT) and has a great upside too,” says DeJon Curd his AAU coach for REACH Legends.  “He would be a steal for any college program but they better get on him now before it’s too late!”  LaTa’Vius Vaughter is a true student-athlete and high character kid that should be high on college coaches recruiting boards.

Look for Clio and Vaughter to continue their undefeated season in competition this week 7:30 pm at home against Owosso.
