A couple of strong matchups highlight the City Suburban Shootout today and we’re here to break both of them down.  A laundry list of Division 1 prospects are set to hit the hardwood and here’s a quick preview of what to look for…

MORGAN PARK (12-6) VS. NOTRE DAME (19-2)
DATE - 1/20/20 WHEN - 1 PM
WHERE - FENWICK HIGH SCHOOL

This one is going to be one of the best games in Chicagoland in 2020. The Notre Dame Dons head into this one at 19-2 with early season losses to Evanston and Loyola. With that being said the Dons are blistering hot coming into this one, winning their last twelve games. I expect them to match up with Morgan Park very well. The Mustangs head into this one at 12-6 after playing a loaded schedule against nationally ranked opponents. An interesting thought coming into this bout between two heavyweights is that Morgan Park is averaging 77 PPG and Notre Dame is only giving up an average of 34 PPG. Two questions that I think will be very telling of how this one will play out are will Notre Dame be able to keep up with Morgan Park, I expect the Mustangs to push the ball with every opportunity they get. For the Mustangs will they be able to slow down Louis Lesmond. This has the chance to be a classic.

FENWICK (14-3) VS. SIMEON (12-6)
DATE - 1/20/20 WHEN - 3 PM
WHERE - FENWICK HIGH SCHOOL

Fenwick has the advantage heading into this one. The Friars get to play on their home court in front of what is most likely to be a sellout crowd. This is going to be a very tough place for the Wolverines to play, but I expect this one to be a great game as well. Simeon is a fairly young team but so is Fenwick, both teams main attractions are their underclassman the Wolverines will count on their 6’2 DePaul commit Ahamad Bynum while the Friars hope their 6’7 Louisville commit Bryce Hopkins can carry the load. I expect Jeremiah Williams to be an x-factor for the Wolverines. The D1 prospect has been very overlooked often overlooked in the city but I think he is going to burst onto the scene in this one.
