The annual NY2LA Sports Swish N’ Dish Spring Warm-Up hits the hardwood this weekend as teams from across the Midwest head to the Badger state for three days of high caliber basketball competition.  The state of Wisconsin will be fully represented as many of the top prospects in various classes will be on the court.  Here’s a quick look at some of the more talented prospects from the 2019-2021 classes to take note of this weekend in Wisconsin…

CLASS OF 2019 PROSPECTS
Cole Nau - Ray Allen Select NY2LA – A talented shooter that can play both guard positions.  Showed during the high school season why he is among the elite of the 2019 Wisconsin class with averages of 14 pts, 5 assists, and 5 rebs for a loaded Brookfield Central team.  Excels at making players around him better you can look for him and his talented Ray Allen 17U NY2LA team to make some noise.  Hearing from D1 Princeton, Holy Cross, Utah Valley, Green-Bay among others.

Deontay Long - Mil Rebeles/Spartans Elite – Arguably one of the best pure scoring wings in the Midwest Long has proved all season long that he is deserving of his #1 ranking in the 2019 Wisconsin class.  Long can score from all three levels at a very high rate.  The 6-5 wing can jump out of the gym and make defenders regret jumping with him on any given possession.  Long earned All State and conference POY awards with averages of 28 pts, 8 rebs, 7 assts for Milwaukee Washington.

Darryl Brooks Jr - Wisconsin Swing NY2LA - A hard working max effort lead guard who will do whatever it takes to win.  Has good handles, vision, and has an improved outside game that he is looking to showcase this spring and summer.  Averaged 5 pts, 3 rebs, 3 assts but you can look for those numbers to sky rocket next season.

Marcus Domask - Ray Allen Select NY2LA – A do it all wing that excels in scoring the ball at a high rate. A knock down outside shooter that will make his defenders regret leaving their hands down.  Being the son of a great coach has only helped him as he is always making the right decision when the ball in his hands.  A key piece to arguably one of the most talented 17u teams in Wisconsin.  Averaged 23 pts, 7 rebs, and 5 assts for a 24-2 Waupun team. Holds offers from Green-Bay and Milwaukee.

Ace Evans – Wisconsin Shooters NY2LA – After a breakout junior season with averages of 15 pts, 3 rebs, and 3 assts for a loaded Martin Luther team Evans has started to make a name for himself in the 2019 Wisconsin class.  A talented scorer that uses his athletic ability to blow by defenders off the dribble, he can shoot from beyond the arc, and he takes pride in locking down opposing team’s best player.  Look for Evans to make noise all spring and summer with the Shooters.

Carlos Ramsey – Mil Rebels/Spartans Elite – A very athletic and talented forward who wasn’t cleared to play this season after transferring to D4 power Destiny.  Without playing a real game since last summer Ramsey is eager to get out on the floor and show everyone what he has been working on the last 6-8 months.  He can score from multiple levels, play great defense, and guard every position on the floor.  Had an early offer from Milwaukee.

David Skogman – Ray Allen Select NY2LA - A very skilled big man that can score the ball in a variety of ways.  He is great in the post, very hard to guard in the pick and roll/pop offense and can stretch the floor with his outside shooting.  Being as skilled as he is with his 6-10 frame you can expect D1 schools to get more involved in his recruitment.  Averaged 11 pts, 10 rebs, and 3 assists for Waukesha West.

Jake Poetzl – Wisconsin Swing NY2LA - A good shooter who can knock down midrange and three-point shots at a very high rate.  A max effort player who gives it all on both ends of the floor game in and game out.  He is the type of player that coaches love to coach and have on their team.  Averaged 16 pts and 8 rebs for his Marinette team.

CLASS OF 2020 PROSPECTS
Jalen Johnson – Phenom University
- The top ranked 2020 Wisconsin prospect is one of the most exciting players to watch no matter the class. A 6-7 point forward who makes everyone around him play at a high level.  He is equipped with length, skill, and crazy athleticism making him one of the best 2020 prospects in the country.  Already holding early offers from Florida, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Marquette, Purdue, Kansas State among others.  Averaged 18 pts, 5 rebs, and 5 assts for a very talented 25-2 Sun Prairie team.

Isaac Lindsey – Phenom University - A pure shooter who can play either guard spot.  He has great vision, handles, and decision making to make up a great point guard.  Probably the best shooter in this loaded 2020 class he is a threat from everywhere on the floor with his shooting range.  Averaged 23 points for his 21-5 Mineral Point.  Holds early offers from UNLV, Green Bay, and South Dakota State. Interest from Iowa, Purdue, Wake Forest, etc.

Kaleim Taylor - KL5/AIA Elite - This young man has blown up over the last 6-8 months after earning the 2020 Co-MVP award at the annual NY2LA Sports Futures Camp.  He can score from all three levels, he is bouncy, can shoot, and can finish at the rim as good as anyone in this 2020 class.  His range goes well beyond the arc and has proved that he is a threat from the outside.  Averaged 22 pts, 7 assts, and 5 rebs for the young and talented Milwaukee Academy of Science team.  Holds an early offer from UNLV and has interest from Iowa, South Dakota State, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Portland, and Wright State.

Desmond Polk – Phenom University – A pure sharpshooting guard with size, athleticism, and instincts, Polk can finish at each level and he has the ability to take over the game scoring the basketball.  Equipped with a long lean frame, Polk is hitting the spring fresh off a scintillating high school campaign.  He picked up an offer from Kansas State earlier this week.

Darius Hannah - KL5/AIA Elite - A very raw prospect still he may have one of the highest ceilings in this 2020 class.  Standing at 6-7 plus he is extremely long and athletic with excellent bounce that he uses on both ends of the floor.  He has an improved outside shot and has shown that he can be threat from the outside at times.  He runs in transition very well and is always ready to either throw down an impressive dunk or catch a lob from a teammate.  Averaged 16 pts, 12 rebs, and 4 assts for Milwaukee Academy of Science.  He is still very raw and needs to gain some strength but might turn into one of the biggest stories in the state over the next 12-24 months.

Jalawn Farrell – Phenom University - A sleeper in this loaded 2020 class Farrell can play multiple positions but is more of a combo guard.  He is equipped with size and strength and already looks like a division 1 player with his 6-3 frame.  He has a junkyard bull dog mentality on both ends of the floor.  He can finish through contact and has an impressive mid-range game.  Defensively he loves to get after his opponents and takes pride in shutting down his opponent.  Look for Farrell to make some noise this spring and summer.  Averaged 9 pts for a very talented Racine Park team. 

Jamari Sibley – Phenom University - An extremely long and athletic prospect who is an absolute force when he is fully engaged.  He can impact the game in many different ways then just scoring with his shot blocking and rebounding skills. His outside shot has improved a ton and he is becoming midrange threat.  He is a force when he is running the floor in transition and is always looking to throw down an impressive dunk.  Averaged 17 pts and 10 rebs for Nicolet.  Holds early offers from UNLV, Kansas State, Milwaukee, and Green Bay. 

Alex Antetokounmpo – Phenom University - Equipped with an incredibly long 6-7 frame Antetokounmpo can impact the game in many ways.  He is just scratching the surface of his potential but anyone who watches him this weekend will see the high upside he has.  A great shot blocker, rebounder, and defender who was bringing the ball up at times for a talented Dominican team is very versatile and can play multiple positions.  Averaged 15 pts, 9 rebs, and 2 assts for state power Dominican.  Holds an early offer from Green Bay and is hearing from Wisconsin, Iowa, Bradley, Tulane, etc.

Carter Gilmore – WI Shooters NY2LA - A 6-6 forward who does a little bit of everything.  He can play outside or inside and has shown his ability to finish around the rim.  He is very scrappy on the defensive side and likes to play aggressive defense.  Led his Arrowhead team in scoring as a sophomore with an average of 16 pts.

Anthony Washington – Wisconsin Swing NY2LA - A player who is just starting to make a name for himself.  Washington is very athletic and long 6-3 wing player who can play multiple positions.  Can score off the dribble and knock down outside shots.  He has proved that he can jump with anyone in the state as he was throwing down impressive dunks all season long.  Averaged 11 pts and 6 rebs for a very talented Madison East team.

Caden Boser – Wisconsin Swing NY2LA - A very skilled big man who excels in the pick and pop.  With the combination of his 6-7 long frame and skill set he is a promising prospect in this loaded 2020 class and a potential sleeper.  Averaged 16 pts, 6 rebs, and 4 assists for Eau Claire Memorial.  

CLASS OF 2021 PROSPECTS
David Joplin – Phenom University
- A standout in the loaded 2021 Wisconsin class can score from each level, runs in transition well, and cleans the glass on both ends of the floor.  He has great foot work, post moves, and a can finish through contact.  He can stretch the floor and knock down outside jump shots as well.  He has potential to be ranked nationally when it's all said and done.  Has an early offer from UNLV and is hearing from many other top programs.  Averaged 10 pts and 9 rebs for a talented Brookfield Central team. 

Tyrese Hunter – Milwaukee Spartans – An explosive lead guard with handles, breakdown ability, explosive athleticism, and the ability to take over the game.  One of the better kept secrets in the state to this point, Hunter is one of the top 2021 guards in the state and he’s one to pay close attention to in the coming years.

Ben Nau – Phenom University - A knockdown shooter who can play either guard position.  Nau handles the ball well, has good vision, plays with confidence, and makes players around him better.  He has been playing at a very high level the last 12 months and has added a national championship and a Co-MVP award at the GNBA top 40 camp to his already impressive resume.  Look for Nau to make some serious noise this spring and summer.

Cameron Palesse - Phenom University - An overall solid wing prospect who is equipped with size, length, and a moter that is always putting in max effort.  He loves the game and it shows game in and game out.  A solid wing prospect who is a solid finisher, a good outside shooter, and a great defender.  He was a key piece to the team that won a national title last summer.  Palesse is still a little under the radar because he is always surrounded with such good talent but look for Palesse to explode this spring and summer.

Jakobe Thompson – Milwaukee Spartans - Arguably the top pure scorer in this special 2021 Wisconsin class.  Thompson has proved that he is a walking bucket no matter the competition.  He is a hard-nosed guard who can kill his defender off the dribble, finishing through contact, shooting from the outside, and he is a creative scorer in transition.  Thompson was one of the best scoring freshmen in the state with an average of 20 pts.

Gavin McGrath – WI Playmakers NY2LA - A very talented throwback big man who is equipped with size and length standing at 6-9.  He is a strong finisher with both hands, a good rebounder, and can knock down midrange jumpers when he gets going.  He is a for sure division 1 prospect who will open a ton of eyes over the next 12-24 months.  He averaged 6 pts and 6 rebs for an up and coming Onalaska team.

Logan Landers – Milwaukee Spartans – Another talented big man who will make noise this spring and summer.  Landers is a strong finisher, good rebounder, and has good instincts.  He has a solid outside game and can shoot from beyond the arc when he gets going.  He has good handles for a young big and he will continue to become more versatile.  Averaged 12 pts and 7 rebs for a 20-4 Brookfield Academy team.

Brayden Dailey – Wisconsin Swing NY2LA - An extremely athletic and talented young prospect with a very promising future.  He is a very long forward who can knock down tough shots, finish through contact, and score in transition at a very high rate.  Defensively, he can guard multiple positions because of his length and athletic ability.  Has potential to become a high major prospect over the next 12-24 months.  Led all freshman in scoring with an average of 21 pts.

J.C. Latham – Phenom University – A powerful athletic interior prospect with size, length, and athleticism, Latham is a two sport standout who is just getting started on the hardwood.  Still growing and developing skill wise, Latham’s power and explosion make him a highly intriguing prospect big picture wise on the hardwood.
